Crunchyroll confirms data breach after hacker claims unauthorized access

Anime streaming service Crunchyroll has confirmed a data breach involving customer service ticket information.

A hacker claimed to have accessed user data and internal systems through a third-party vendor.

Crunchyroll is investigating the claims with cybersecurity experts and has not found evidence of ongoing unauthorized access.

The hacker alleged to have downloaded about eight million support ticket records, including 6.8 million unique email addresses.

Access was gained after compromising an Okta single sign-on account belonging to a Crunchyroll support agent.
