Anthropic plans Claude memory update with new Memory Files

Anthropic is reportedly testing a new Claude memory overhaul called Memory Files.

Instead of one single memory summary, Claude could store context in multiple topic-based, editable files across sessions.

A dual-mode setup may let users keep the current “classic” memory or switch to the new file-based system.

Related features like Dreams could asynchronously consolidate memory, with a possible consumer rollout later alongside the Conway agent.

The change would give Claude more durable, structured memory while preserving user control and editability.
