Covering electricity price increases from our data centers

Anthropic will cover electricity price increases that consumers face from our data centers.

Anthropic will fund 100% of the grid upgrades needed to interconnect its data centers, paid through increases to its monthly electricity charges.

Anthropic will procure new power generation to match its data centers’ needs; when new generation isn’t online, it will work with utilities and external experts to estimate and cover demand-driven price effects.

Anthropic is investing in curtailment systems and grid optimization tools to reduce power use during peak demand and limit rate pressure for consumers.

Current data center projects will create hundreds of permanent jobs and thousands of construction jobs; Anthropic commits to addressing environmental impacts (including water-efficient cooling), supports permitting and transmission reforms, and is exploring ways to mitigate price effects when leasing capacity.
