UC Berkeley researchers say LLM-based systems can also uncover new microarchitecture logic in focused areas, not just assist with routine work.

Even so, human engineers still remain essential for oversight and higher-level design decisions.

The trend could improve chip performance, reduce power use, and speed up future processor development.
