Russia starts nuclear drill with submarines, 7,800 types of equipment, weapons and 65,000 troops

Russia has begun a three-day strategic nuclear drill from May 19 to May 21, the defense ministry said.

The exercise involves 65,000 troops and 7,800 pieces of equipment, including submarines, aircraft, ships and missile systems.

Training is taking place across the Leningrad and Central military districts, with Belarus running related drills as well.

The move underscores closer Russia-Belarus military coordination and adds to nuclear signaling amid the Ukraine war.
