IPv6 traffic reaches parity with IPv4 for the first time, Google data shows

Google said that on March 28, half of its global users accessed its services over IPv6, briefly bringing IPv6 traffic to parity with IPv4.

APNIC and Cloudflare measurements also put IPv6 usage around or above 40%, suggesting broad, routine deployment rather than limited testing.

The shift helps address IPv4 exhaustion and can reduce reliance on costly workarounds like NAT.

It marks a major step toward IPv6 becoming the internet’s new default addressing model.
