Valve is opening a reservation queue for Steam Controllers to limit reseller activity

Valve will add a reservation queue for the Steam Controller on May 8 after launch-day demand overwhelmed the store and units sold out quickly in major markets.

The new system limits buyers to one controller each and requires a Steam account in good standing with prior purchase history.

Purchase emails will be sent in queue order as inventory is replenished region by region, and buyers will have a 72-hour window to complete the order.

Valve says the change is designed to curb scalping and give genuine customers a fairer shot at buying the controller.
