US firm to boost next-gen grid modernization, advance resilience with battery storage

Oak Ridge National Laboratory installed Viridi’s RPS 150 battery energy storage system at its GRID-C test site to validate control strategies on a live power grid.

The DOE-backed project is designed to evaluate next-generation grid technologies, with a focus on grid modernization and integration of distributed energy resources.

Both sides framed the work as a possible long-term collaboration, highlighting growing interest in safer, non-flammable storage for critical infrastructure.
