Spotify Connect is broken for Android users, but there is a temporary fix

Spotify Connect on Android is failing to list Google Cast speakers, including Nest speakers and Chromecast Audio, for some users.

Reports vary by phone and device, but the bug is blocking a core Spotify feature: casting music to home speakers.

Spotify acknowledged the issue in its community forums and said force-quitting the app may temporarily restore casting.

One user also reported that downgrading the app version brought cast devices back.
