Subscribers win: Netflix must refund up to €576 after Italian court rules hikes unlawful

An Italian court ruled that multiple Netflix price hikes between 2017 and 2024 violated consumer protection law.

The court ordered Netflix to notify affected subscribers within 90 days and to compensate users for unlawful charges.

The ruling requires Netflix to lower current subscription prices to reflect cumulative unlawful increases and faces a €700 daily fine for noncompliance.

Movimento Consumatori estimated refunds of about €500 for long-term premium users and €250 for long-term standard users, and Netflix plans to appeal.
