"Holoearth" to End: Hololive-Backed Metaverse Service Shuts Down About a Year After Launch

Cover will shut down Holoearth, the hololive-linked metaverse service, on June 28.

The company will stop selling paid HoloCoins, phase out item sales, and offer refunds for unused balances.

Cover also said it will book a 3.199 billion yen impairment loss on related assets and have executives voluntarily return part of their compensation.

The closure comes about a year after the service’s full launch and may affect Cover’s future new-business strategy and profitability.
