New edge-computing platform gives small military drones 4x more processing power

Lantronix and Swarmer announced a production-ready edge-computing platform for Group 1 drones, combining Lantronix hardware with Swarmer autonomy software.

The system is designed to run AI and mission functions locally, delivering about 4x the current onboard processing power.

By shifting more computation onto the drone, the platform could improve autonomous sensing, tracking, and coordinated action.

The added onboard capability is also meant to help low-cost drones operate more effectively in jammed, GPS-denied, or contested environments.
