Tobu Railway to Launch Big Private Railways’ First Walk-Through Facial Recognition Ticket Gates on the 27th

Tobu Railway will launch a walk-through face-recognition ticket gate at Tobu Utsunomiya Station on May 27.

Unlike earlier systems that required passengers to stop, the new gate can authenticate while walking through.

It checks commuter pass data against SAKULaLa registration details to decide whether entry is allowed.

The upgrade should reduce congestion and make travel easier for riders with luggage or children.
