Rec Room Shutting Down After 10 Years and 150 Million Players Because It Never Became ‘Profitable’

Rec Room announced on March 30 that it will shut down on June 1 after ten years of service.

The studio said over 150 million players had used Rec Room since its 2016 launch.

Developers said the game never became sustainably profitable, so they disabled account creation, friend-making, and subscriptions and opened paid features to all.
