Anthropic cuts off third-party tools like OpenClaw for Claude subscribers, citing unsustainable demand

Anthropic said it will stop covering Claude use through third-party tools like OpenClaw for subscribers starting April 5, 2026.

Subscribers can still log in with their Claude credentials but must buy usage packages or use an API key to continue third-party access.

Anthropic cited capacity and nonstop agent-driven usage as the reason and offered a one-time credit equal to a monthly plan and discounted packages.

OpenClaw's author released a cache-efficiency update to lower user costs and said some other providers still support OpenClaw.
