Archaeologists find Egyptian mummy buried with the 'Iliad'

Archaeologists uncovered a 1,600-year-old Roman-era tomb in Egypt containing a mummy and a papyrus fragment from Homer’s Iliad.

The fragment comes from Book 2 and includes the famous catalog of ships.

The find suggests Greek classics were still being copied and valued in Egypt centuries after Homer.

It offers new clues about literacy, burial practices, and cultural exchange in the Roman period.
