FCC Rule Banning Foreign Robots Could Sweep Up New Home Robot Vacuums

The FCC says some autonomous ground robots now fall under its national security rules as “advanced robotic devices.”

That could let the agency block new foreign-produced robot vacuums, pool cleaners, and similar products from U.S. import, marketing, or sale.

Existing devices already sold are exempt, but brands that depend on overseas manufacturing or parts could be hit hard.

The change may affect companies like iRobot, Shark, Eufy, Roborock, and Dreame, especially those tied to China.
