Ukraine’s battle-proven interceptor drones shield US soldiers from Iran’s Shahed attacks

The U.S. Army is fielding the Ukraine-tested Merops interceptor drone to counter Iranian Shahed-style attacks.

Merops proved effective against Russian drone swarms in Ukraine and was rapidly bought in large numbers by the Army.

Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll said the service wants more of the system because it is much cheaper than missile defenses.

The drone adds a lower-cost layer to U.S. air defense for protecting American facilities in the Middle East.
