Kaspersky suspects Chinese hackers planted a backdoor into Daemon Tools in a 'widespread' attack

Kaspersky says Daemon Tools installers were found with a malicious backdoor in an ongoing supply-chain attack.

The campaign is reportedly infecting thousands of Windows computers through a trusted software installer.

Kaspersky also linked additional targeted compromises to the same operation across multiple countries and sectors.

The case shows how a compromised installer can turn a routine download into a large-scale malware delivery channel.
