Elon Musk: "Model S and X to Be Open-Sourced"... Will They Be Left as a 'Half' Like the Roadster?

Elon Musk said Tesla may open-source the Model S and Model X, but the plan could be limited in scope.

Industry watchers expect Tesla to release only select documents or diagnostics, not core design files or source code.

A similar move with the original Roadster exposed some GitHub files and manuals, but left out CAD, BOM, and firmware code.

That has raised doubts about whether the new release would meet the practical expectations of open source.
