A Simpler Path to Super-Resolution: Scientists Reinvent Microscopy

Researchers at Nanjing University of Science and Technology developed PCA-iSIM, a new super-resolution microscopy method.

It combines a digital micromirror device with principal component analysis to recover weak illumination patterns.

The system achieves about 100 nm effective resolution and captures images at up to 30 frames per second with simpler optics.

The approach could make live-cell super-resolution imaging faster, cheaper, and easier to use in routine biology labs.
