Japanese chemical giant JSR expands to Taiwan for EUV photoresist production near TSMC — plant to fill missing chemical link to scale EUV materials

JSR has formed a joint venture with Taiwanese partners to build its first photoresist manufacturing plant in Taiwan, targeting completion by 2028.

The move supports closer co-development of EUV photoresist materials with TSMC, speeding up iteration for advanced chips at 2nm and below.

JSR is also expanding its advanced semiconductor materials push in South Korea as it seeks a stronger position in the global supply chain.

The strategy comes as rivals and Chinese alternatives race to catch up in critical photoresist technologies.
