Northern Lights Forecast: 10 States May See Aurora This Weekend

NOAA forecasts a G1–G2 geomagnetic storm from late July 31 through Aug. 2.

The event was triggered by a coronal mass ejection that left the sun on July 30, potentially bringing aurora to the northern U.S.

Visibility is most likely in northern border states such as Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota and nearby areas.

The display may be faint and low on the horizon, with summer darkness and moonlight limiting viewing chances.
