OpenAI is reportedly launching a phone for ChatGPT

OpenAI is reportedly speeding up work on its first hardware product: an AI-focused smartphone.

A report citing analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says mass production is targeted for early 2027.

The phone is said to use a customized MediaTek Dimensity 9600 chip, LPDDR6 memory, UFS 5.0 storage, upgraded imaging hardware, and dual NPUs.

Projected shipments are around 30 million units across 2027–2028, suggesting OpenAI could enter consumer hardware at major scale.
