Meta Is Turning Its Workforce Into An AI Training Moat

Meta has launched the Model Capability Initiative, which records selected work activity on company devices for some U.S. employees.

The goal is to collect workflow data—such as mouse movements, keystrokes, screenshots, and menu navigation—to train AI systems that can use software more like a human.

The program could give Meta a rare advantage by supplying real workplace interaction data that rivals may not be able to access.

It also raises concerns about employee privacy, trust, and potential legal issues, including labor law and GDPR-related scrutiny.
