Android wants to replace email verification codes with one-tap credentials

Google is adding a verified email credential to Android’s Credential Manager API.

Apps can confirm email ownership on-device with one tap, instead of sending users to inbox-based OTPs or magic links.

The feature aims to streamline sign-up, account recovery, and reauthentication flows.

It supports regular consumer accounts, but not yet Workspace or supervised accounts.
