With huge queues, Japan’s big indie game festival, BitSummit, just smashed its attendance record

BitSummit 2026 drew a record 68,208 attendees in Kyoto, organizers said.

That was up 17% from 2025 and 77% higher than 2024, signaling strong growth.

The indie game festival also featured more exhibitors and long queues at Miyako Messe.

The turnout underscores rising global interest in Japan’s indie game scene and BitSummit’s growing industry clout.
