Something Is Warping Saturn’s Magnetic Field and It’s Not What You Think

Scientists analyzed six years of Cassini data and found Saturn's magnetic cusp is consistently shifted to the right from the Sun-facing view.

The cusp usually appears between 1 and 3 o'clock instead of at 12 o'clock, indicating an asymmetric magnetosphere.

Researchers attribute the shift to Saturn's rapid 10.7-hour rotation and heavy plasma from Enceladus, which pull field lines sideways.
