FCC bans new Chinese robots and power inverters to protect US AI buildout from foreign threats

The FCC has barred new Chinese-made ground robots and internet-connected power inverters from U.S. markets over national security concerns.

The rule targets software-controlled robots such as robot vacuums, delivery bots, and warehouse transport systems, citing supply-chain concentration, cyber vulnerabilities, and remote-access risks.

Existing products are exempt, while some vehicle and medical categories are excluded; exemption requests will now be handled by the Department of War.

The move could affect consumer devices, warehouse operations, and parts of the AI and power infrastructure buildout.
