It's Official: Rec Room is Shutting Down

Rec Room announced it will permanently close on June 1, 2026.

The studio said it could not turn a profit despite reaching 150 million players and millions of monthly users.

New accounts and Rec Room+ signups are closed immediately while existing players can play until shutdown.

Creators can cash out tokens and Steam users can download rooms to rebuild elsewhere before closure.

The studio discounted first-party store content 80% and extended some subscriber features to all players.
