Microsoft open-sources “the earliest DOS source code discovered to date”

Microsoft has released the oldest DOS source code it has found, opening a rare piece of early PC history to the public.

The code offers a look at the origins of DOS, one of the most influential operating systems in personal computing.

Historians and developers now have access to a previously unseen part of Microsoft’s software archive.
