One unfortunate Fortnite developer was laid off twice by Epic Games

Epic Games conducted company-wide layoffs affecting over 1,000 people amid a Fortnite downturn.

The company reported roughly $6 billion in revenue last year.

Melissa Wafful was laid off in September 2023 as part of 829 layoffs, then rehired less than a year later as a project manager and worked two years.

Earlier in 2023, Epic laid off 830 staff in a prior round of cuts.

Tim Sweeney said the layoffs were not related to AI, and Wafful's LinkedIn notes she has a passion for national days.
