OkCupid, Match pay no fine for sharing user photos with facial recognition firm

The FTC filed a complaint saying OkCupid shared user data with a facial recognition company without proper disclosures.

Humor Rainbow provided the Data Recipient access to nearly three million OkCupid photos plus demographic and location data.

Clarifai requested the data in September 2014 and used the images to build age, sex and race detection models.

OkCupid founders had financial investments in the Data Recipient, and no formal agreement or payment was made for the data.
