Anthropic lays down identity verification on Claude

Anthropic is adding identity verification to selected Claude use cases.

Using Persona, it will check a government-issued photo ID and a live selfie to help prevent abuse and enforce policies.

The measure will also restrict access for users in unsupported regions, accounts that violate terms, and under-18 users.

The move highlights tighter access controls for AI services and raises privacy, age-verification, and regional-access concerns.
