Instructure pays ShinyHunters to delete the data it stole

ShinyHunters stole data from nearly 9,000 schools using Instructure’s Canvas platform and tried to extort victims.

Instructure said it reached an agreement with the group to delete the stolen data and that no customer would be blackmailed.

The company did not disclose whether any ransom was paid.

The incident raises concerns for schools and universities that rely on Canvas for sensitive student and staff information.
