Introducing advanced tool use on the Claude Developer Platform

Anthropic added three new Claude Developer Platform features: Tool Search Tool, Programmatic Tool Calling, and Tool Use Examples.

The tools let agents discover large tool libraries on demand, invoke tools from code, and learn correct usage patterns from examples.

Anthropic says the features reduce context-window pressure, improve reliability, and can save many tokens in internal tests.

The update is meant to make Claude better suited for large tool ecosystems and complex workflows, including use cases like Claude for Excel.
