Your Pixel phone might soon tell you when a caller is lying about who they are

Google appears to be testing a caller ID spoofing detection feature in the Google Phone app for Pixel devices.

A teardown of the app found code that could warn users when a number may be impersonating a trusted contact.

The feature may also offer an immediate hang-up option to help users avoid scam calls.

If launched, it would add another layer to Google’s anti-fraud protections against spam and spoofed calls.
