Chuwi launched the UniBook, a $449 budget laptop with Intel’s Core 3 304, a 14-inch 1200p IPS display, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.

Intel’s Chinese unit unveiled Project Firefly, a reference-design effort meant to reduce laptop development and manufacturing costs.

Lenovo’s Lecoo Air 14 is the first known laptop tied to Project Firefly.

The moves suggest PC makers are starting to line up cheaper thin-and-light alternatives to Apple’s MacBook Neo.
