ASRock Motherboard Reportedly Kills Three Ryzen 7 9800X3D Processors In A Span Of Few Months

Three Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPUs failed while using the same ASRock B850M PRO RS WiFi motherboard, which is implicated as the likely culprit.

The system was built in January 2025; the first CPU failed in November 2025, the second a couple of months later, and the third about one month after that.

The first two failures occurred with the motherboard's CPU and DRAM indicator lights illuminated.

The third failure presented a solid green BOOT light and no display output.

BIOS versions involved were 3.50, 4.03, and 4.07 beta; ASRock began shipping AGESA 1.3.0.0a microcode with the 4.07 beta.
