Total Solar Eclipse ‘Map of Nope’ Meme Is a Must-See Before August

A total solar eclipse on Aug. 12 will be fully visible only along a narrow path through eastern Greenland, western Iceland and northern Spain.

Most of Europe and parts of North America will see only a partial eclipse, not totality.

The viral “Map of Nope” meme is back to underscore that only the path of totality gets the sky-darkening full event and visible corona.

The eclipse helps clear up a common misconception: 99% partial still is not a total eclipse.
