M5 Max MacBook Pro paired with RTX 5090 in an eGPU dock — runs Cyberpunk 2077 at over 100 FPS at max settings with frame generation

An M5 Max MacBook Pro was paired with an RTX 5090 in an eGPU dock using Linux virtualization and FEX translation.

In Cyberpunk 2077, the setup topped 100 FPS with frame generation enabled.

Without frame generation, performance fell sharply because of CPU and translation overhead.

The demo shows Apple silicon Macs can access top-tier external GPUs, but only with complex workarounds and heavy performance tradeoffs.
