Samsung study reveals Galaxy Watch can predict fainting 5 minutes before it happens

Samsung and Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital reported a study showing Galaxy Watch 6, with a photoplethysmography sensor and AI, could predict fainting in advance.

In patients with suspected vasovagal syncope, the system warned of episodes up to five minutes early and achieved 84.6% accuracy.

The findings were published in European Heart Journal – Digital Health.

If validated and commercialized, the technology could help users sit down or seek help before fainting, reducing injury risk from sudden falls.
