Meta isn’t doing enough to keep kids off Facebook and Instagram, rules EU

The European Commission says Meta’s age-verification and reporting tools are not strong enough to keep under-13 users off Facebook and Instagram.

After a nearly two-year probe, regulators issued a preliminary finding that Meta may be breaching the EU’s Digital Services Act.

The case could force Meta to strengthen child-safety controls in Europe or face fines of up to 6% of global annual revenue.
