YouTube is putting AI labels where you’ll actually see them

YouTube is making AI disclosures more visible by placing labels below regular videos and as overlays on Shorts.

The platform will also automatically label content when its systems detect significant photorealistic AI use.

Some labels will be permanent for content made with YouTube AI tools or marked with C2PA metadata, though creators can appeal mistakes in YouTube Studio.

YouTube says the labels will not affect monetization or recommendations.
