Chinese military reveals drone wolf pack capable of swarm operations — robot dogs can be equipped with grenade launchers and machine guns for urban combat

China's PLA unveiled four-legged 'canine' robots that can operate together as swarms for urban combat.

The 'wolf packs' were shown on a CCTV documentary called Unmanned Competition.

Variants include Shadow for reconnaissance, Polar for logistical support, and Bloody which can be fitted with small missiles, grenade launchers, and automatic weapons.

The robots coordinate directly so a single soldier can control a group without micromanagement; control methods include voice commands, a tactical glove, or a rifle-mounted control stick.

They can autonomously identify and target but require human confirmation to strike; reported specs list a top speed of 9 mph (about 154 kmph) and a 55-pound (25 kg) payload; they can pair with an Atlas UAV for air-ground swarms up to 96 drones, and an earlier 200-drone AI swarm was shown controlled by one operator.
