Scientists Warn Many Insects May Not Survive a Warming World

A major study of more than 2,000 tropical insect species suggests many lowland species cannot raise heat tolerance quickly enough to keep pace with warming.

The risk is especially high in places like the Amazon, where rising temperatures could drive sharp population declines and disrupt ecosystems.

Because insects are key pollinators, decomposers, and predators, widespread heat-related losses could ripple across tropical biodiversity and food webs.
