Meta is using AI facial analysis to identify underage users on Facebook and Instagram

Meta is expanding AI-based age checks on Facebook and Instagram to spot users under 13 and enforce minimum-age rules.

The system analyzes photos, videos, and profile signals, then deactivates suspected underage accounts and asks for age verification.

The rollout is reaching more countries and Facebook in the U.S., building on Teen Accounts protections.

The move follows growing legal pressure over child safety, including a recent court ruling against Meta.
