Apple: Devices in Lockdown Mode Have Not Been Hacked, Company Confirms

Lockdown Mode has proven effective against hacking attempts so far.

It was introduced in 2022 for iPhone, iPad and Mac and is optional for people who might face sophisticated threats.

When enabled, certain apps, websites and features are limited or unavailable.

Key changes include: message attachments blocked except certain types; complex web technologies may be blocked affecting browsing; wireless changes block auto-joining unsecured networks and turn off 2G/3G.

Apple told TechCrunch it knows of no successful mercenary spyware attack on devices with Lockdown Mode, and it is alerting iPhone users on outdated iOS to install critical security updates.
