Alcasec managed to access hundreds of thousands of bank records in Spain: now he has accepted prison

José Luis Huertas, known as Alcasec, agreed to a 2 years and 7 months prison sentence in Spain’s Audiencia Nacional for illegally accessing computer systems and disclosing secrets.

The case alleges he obtained hundreds of thousands of banking records using stolen credentials, phishing-style fake pages, and access to judicial and tax networks.

Two other defendants also admitted guilt and accepted the seizure of equipment and money.

Investigators say sensitive Tax Agency data was queried at scale and later offered through a portal used to sell stolen information.
