AMD Posts HDMI 2.1 FRL & DSC Patches To Linux Kernel, Keeping FRL Disabled By Default

AMD has posted new Linux kernel patches for HDMI 2.1 FRL and DSC support in the open-source AMDGPU driver.

FRL is still disabled by default and must be enabled with a kernel parameter for now.

The change brings Radeon on Linux closer to full HDMI 2.1 support, especially for high-refresh 4K displays.

AMD is waiting on variable refresh rate (VRR) support before turning FRL on by default.
